Case Study: Gorilla V & Gorilla VI Drilling Rig - UHP Coating Removal and Painting

Sureclean were contracted to provide painting crews in support of Fabric Maintainance campaigns scheduled by Rowan Drilling onboard the Gorilla V and Gorilla VI drilling rigs whilst on location offshore in the UKCS.

Sureclean Scope

Provide manpower and equipment for the removal of the tired existing coating using Ultra High Pressure (UHP) water jetting technology and apply the new coating in compliance with manufacturer’s guidelines.

Technical Challenge

All works were to be completed with zero discharge, a system of work was engineered encompassing the use of vacuum systems and specialist toolings, for example, hand held aqua-blaster and deckblaster  to ensure containment of all washing and contaminants.

Additional Information

Sureclean provided dedicated personnel on a rotational basis for a six month period, furthermore when the Gorilla V moved off station and berthed in Dundee (UK) for inspection and re-certification, Sureclean were awarded the tank cleaning workscope.
