Sureclean Staff Raise Over £6,000 for Charlie House

Every year the Sureclean workforce nominate a chosen ‘charity of the year’ with all fundraising efforts then focussed on smashing their target.

Last year, Sureclean staff tackled charity challenges, hosted sponsored ‘cook offs’ and used their health and safety ‘SOC’ scheme to raise over £6,000 for local children’s charity Charlie House.

Alness and Aberdeen based Sureclean uses a creative safety initiative to kick start their fundraising.  Every year the Company pledges to donate to their charity for every valid Sureclean Observation Card (SOC) raised by their people with over 1,500 SOCs in 2015.  The SOC programme provides a platform for employees to formally document good and bad safety practice, safety observations, proposed improvements with immediate and further actions taken when required.  As well as raising money for a worthwhile cause, the SOC scheme allows employees to contribute towards Sureclean’s positive safety culture and see their suggestions become implemented throughout the Company.

To boost their fundraising, the workforce also takes part in a number of charity challenges and hosts a number of charity cook offs and bacon roll mornings swapping the fast food for an in-house alternative.   The Sureclean Charity Committee also held car boot sales, ran an in-house tuck shop and held charity sweepstakes throughout the year.  Their biggest challenge saw a team of 9 ‘Sureclean Sprinters’ take part in the Ythan Challenge back in June.  Tackling the 11k multi-terrain obstacle race which is famous for its ‘bogmeister’ course pushed the team to their limits, all to raise money for a fantastic cause.

Sureclean Managing Director, John Barron, commented: “Fundraising for Charlie House has proved to be an excellent team building exercise and has increased employee motivation and engagement.  Everyone has enjoyed getting involved in charity initiatives throughout the year and we have managed to raise over £6,000 for a local charity who provide invaluable support to children and their families throughout the North East.”

Lynn Batham, Corporate and Community Fundraiser at Charlie House added “It has been a pleasure to work with and support the team at Sureclean and we are immensely grateful for this very generous donation. This will go a long way in helping us reach out to more families, offering them vital support when they need it most and making their lives that bit easier.  Everyone should be very proud of what they’ve achieved, not only with the fundraising but also with the further public awareness the charity has received through this relationship.”
